Looking for service in Chicagoland featuring LN Engineering parts?
Billet full-flow Spin-On Oil Filter Adapter** (fits all M96, M97 models to MY2008) DFI MY09+ version available in our online store as well!
We applaud Porsche's use of a canister to reduce waste and be environmentally concious, but due to feedback from many of the shops and technicians we serve, LN Engineering now offers our exclusive **patent pending full-flow spin-on oil filter adapter, allowing for use of a conventional spin-on oil filter, rather than requiring the use of expensive and inferior replacement cartridge-style filters. This makes changing your oil a much simpler task. No longer do you have to handle changing out the cartridge, worry about contamination of the oil filter housing, depositing lint or transfer from whatever rag or paper is used to wipe out the housing, or thinking you have cross threaded the cheap plastic filter housing since they don't fit all that well. (a complaint we hear often!) Our spin-on oil filter adapter makes oil changes easy again! The LN Engineering Spin-On Oil filter adapter also helps improve the longevity of your engine by providing full flow filtration, which means 100% of the oil gets filtered without having oil bypass the filter (as the factory filter housing allows for). Our design eliminates the factory bypass for the filter (engine still has a pressure relief in the oil pump to prevent over pressurization). We've chosen a family of filters used on late-model Corvettes, easily found at many local auto parts stores for a fraction the price of the original filter, designed for full-flow application without a bypass valve. Coupled with more frequent oil changes every 6 months or 5,000 as recommended, there should be no fear that a bypass is required. Our spin-on filter adapter has been race proven not to cause oil starvation, even in the most demanding applications. If you were to have a failure where the filter did fill up with debris leading to starvation, if you had a bypass that same debris would have caused further damage to the engine, still requiring an overhaul. We've seen engine failures where the lack of a bypass actually limited damage to the rest of the engine! Although inspecting the filter for debris requires a special tool to cut open the steel bodied filters over the ease of inspecting the factory filter inserts, when paired with our magnetic drain plug, you can actually get a better indicator of abnormal wear from the ferrous material collected by the magnet on our drain plug. Regarding warranty issues, we've had many Porsche dealerships across the country purchase and install our spin-on full-flow adapters, without any concerns about voiding a warranty. In fact, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act protects your warranty from being voided for use of aftermarket parts on your vehicle. Sold individually or in a complete oil change bundle (shown below) for your Boxster, Cayman, or 911, our bundle includes an oil filter, filter adapter, and magnetic drain plug, and an extra drain plug washer, at a discount. Installs easily with a 26mm socket. (not included)
Fits 986/987 as well as 996/997 models & replaces Porsche part numbers 996 107 020 53 (54, 55) OIL STARVATION? LN Engineering also offers two universal Accusump installation kits for Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models, including the spin-on filter adapter. Click here or on the photo below to learn more. We recommend and sell the Napa Gold 1042, which exceeds the quality of traditional OE Mahle spin-on filters typically found on aircooled Porsche engines. Since a steel-bodied spin-on conventional oil filter is now employed, you can further reduce engine wear by using a Filtermag, which reduces iron contaminants in your motor oil and thus reduces wear associated with these particles normally unfiltered by the oil filter.
LN Engineering Billet Spin On High Performance Oil Filter
For those familiar with using an Accusump on your M96 or M97-equipped Boxster, Cayman, or 911, you are probably familiar with the lack of ground clearance, requiring use of a very small (shorty) oil filter. For years, we ran the Napa Gold 1081, but it's size is also a limitation, requiring frequent changing and care to prevent damaging the oil filter with too thick of oil at startup, among other shortcomings, requiring monitoring filters for internal collapse. This is not an issue or concern with our new billet filter. Due to high demand, we chose to engineer a billet oil filter using a slightly increased porosity stainless mesh (60 versus the 30 micron of the stock paper filter). Along with increased surface area and greater pore size, our "shorty" Billet High Performance Washable Oil Filter will outperform the 1081 or it's larger sibling, the 1042, hands down. This increase in flow along with a smaller pressure loss across the element ensures the best possible protection for your engine from oil starvation. When coupled with our magnetic drain plug, a superior lubricant like Motul or Joe Gibbs, and reduced drain intervals, our billet filter provides the best balance for cars that see both street and track use. With the introduction of our billet filter, for applications where ground clearance needs to be observed, we no longer recommend the Napa Gold 1081. In other applications, the Napa Gold 1042 should be used if not using our billet oil filter. In fact, any car that sees track use can benefit from our billet oil filter with increased oil pressure! Available for purchase in the LN Engineering Online Store Instructions Lubricate both o-rings prior to installation with appropriate o-ring lubricant. Screw the oil filter adapter onto the engine by hand. You can feel when the rubber O-rings begin to seat and once the adapter snugs up to the block, tighten the spin-on filter adapter using installation tool (if installing Rev 0) or slip the appropriate 26mm socket over the filter nipple to tighten (Rev 1, sold after Dec 2009) Unless the spin-on filter adapter is butted up to the block, it is not installed right. Once the spin-on filter adapter is mated with the block correctly, then torque - do not exceed 25 Nm (18 Ft/Lbs) torque when tightening. Also be sure to oil the filter gasket first before installing! Filter should be installed by hand then once snug, turned another 3/4 to 1 turn to finish filter installation, or to the filter manufacturers recommended specifications. For summer use, a 5w40 full-synthetic Porsche approved oil should be used. For winter use, we recommend a 0w40 full-synthetic Porsche approved oil. Use of thicker oils not recommended. For track use, our Billet High Performance Oil Filter is recommended and required when running an Accusump (call for details). 2012 Pricing Schedule
