Porsche 356 & 912 Cylinder Head Reconditioning & Performance Upgrades

Aircooled engines are very sensitive to changes done to valves, ports, and combustion chambers. That said, we don't recommend that you let just anyone do your head work. Let us prep your heads- even street engines need some head work to better utilize the displacement our 88 and 90mm cylinders provide.

We offer three stages- the first, Stage I, is an improved stock head we completely recondition with our special lightweight custom valves, springs, and retainers as well as our superior valve seat and guides!

We then offer an additional two other stages, Stage 2 flowing 160-175 cfm (25% improvement) and Stage 3, flowing 200+ cfm (35-40% improvement). 

  • Custom Intake valve size increased to 40mm; Intake 12.3 grams lighter than stock 912 
  • Custom Exhaust valve size remains unchanged; 24 grams lighter than stock 912
  • Valve stems reduced to 7 or 8mm for weight savings
  • Custom Valve springs remain singles with same open pressures as stock 912, but allow for higher lift and RPMs with valve train weight reduction. Higher RPM engines are set up with additional tension for valve control to desired RPM.
  • Severe duty single or dual springs standard on Stage II and Stage III heads.
  • All spark plug bosses are welded and inserted standard.
  • All heads can include custom modern match ported phenolic spacers. Customer to provide intake manifolds for match porting to phenolic spacer. This proprietary process allows us short 3-5 day turn around for heads in stock! Note: intake spacer moves manifold outward ¼” inch.
  • Chambers remain small, ours measured out at 58.5ccs from 56ccs, and remain unshrouded for stock bore size for compatibility with 82.5 and 83.5mm vintage racing bore limitations. 
  • Stage II&III Heads are SCCA legal
  • Core charge applies - good cores available. No previous port or chamber work allowed- we must have a virgin SC or 912 head. Heads also cannot have been flycut more than 1mm again for strength. Unmolested heads only! If cores require welding other than spark plug bosses, additional charges apply. If your core is accepted, we will issue you a refund for your core in 2-3 weeks.
  • Dual plugging available but not required for either stage II or III. Custom coatings available.

Stage I starts at $1500, with lightweight valves, custom springs, seats, and guides, as well as smoothed ports. Stage II heads start at $2500 and Stage III heads start at $3500. Custom CNC phenolic spacers match ported to the manifolds and heads are $100/pr and are required for both Stage II and Stage III heads. Custom camshafts are available for our heads. Dual plugs and coatings extra.
