Looking for service in Chicagoland featuring LN Engineering parts?
Depending on your driving ability, a .5 QT Deep Sump Kit may suffice. We have been told that our deep sump is worth about ½ bar of additional pressure in the carousel at Road America, but that’s on PS2s. Stickier tires will make the problem worse, as do other modifications to the car, which allow for greater G’s.
LN Engineering’s deep sump kit increases total oil capacity by .5 Qt. This reduces the chances of oil starvation due to prolonged cornering, acceleration, and high speed operation during HPDE and Autocross events without sacrificing ground clearance. Experienced drivers with R-compound or race tires should consider a more proactive approach to preventing oil starvation with the installation of an Accusump system, 2 Quart Deep Sump, or Dual Tandem Oil pumps as outlined on our Oil Starvation Prevention page. Our kit lowers the sump as well as the pickup tube while increasing oil capacity to accomplish this. Available for M96 and M97 engines (not for GT2, GT3, or Turbo engines). LN Engineering Deep Sump Kit includes sump spacer, oil baffle spacer, oil pickup tube extension and o-ring, and necessary bolts and washer. Sealant(s) sold separately. *Kit contents may differ in appearance from image shown above. Kit Contents: Do you sell the pickup tube spacer separately? For those who already have the FVD or BK deep sump kits w/o pickup tube spacer, our pickup tube spacer is available for purchase separately. Is the X51 baffle compatible with the 1/2 quart deep sump? LN Engineering also offers a modified X51 baffle kit compatible with the LN Engineering 1/2 quart deep sump, available for purchase from our online store (this kit differs from those sold by any other reseller). Above the modifications for clearance, we also supply additional gaskets and spacers to allow for proper fitment, as shown below. This baffle is included no additional charge with the 2 quart deep sump, as it's a required component of the kit.
Required bolt spacers and omission of included baffle spacer for original plastic baffle
Make note of gaps allowing for oil to escape baffle...
Included are portions of silicon edging to be glued (with provided silicon) to the baffle as shown. Installation Tips (watch complete YouTube installation video below in addition to these hints) All supplied fasteners torque to 7.5 ft/lb or 10 Nm. Use 000 043 203 73 Drei-Bond, Loctite 5900 or current recommended Porsche sealant for pan and spacer as shown below.
Be sure not to over or mis-apply sealant product, as doing so may cause sealant to plug the oil pickup and cause oil-starvation! At your own discretion, you can use Loctite on supplied fasteners and alternate sealants like Loctite 518 on the pan and spacer.
Enlarge baffle windows with dremel.
Close-up of factory baffle shown with windows enlarged 1/4" further down to restore their original depth (shown above).
Press out bronze bushings from baffle.
Flip baffle around and reinstall bushing on other side, flipped 180 degrees.
Install baffle spacer.
Place supplied aluminum spacers on the three cast-in towers where the baffle affixes to the sump.
Place baffle on sump pan with baffle spacer in place as well as three aluminum spacers as shown above then install fasteners.
Install pickup tube spacer along with supplied o-ring facing the block; install new o-ring in pickup tube then bolt on sandwiching the pickup tube spacer between the pickup and block.
