Uses Mobil 1 M1107 or K&N Gold HP-1007 filter. Napa Gold 1042 also is an OE quality spin on filter similar to those made by Mahle for the aircooled 911s. These are the only recommended oil filters. The other benefit of using our spin-on filter adapter is that you can easily utilize a filter bypass to allow the addition of an external oil cooler or accusump to the oiling system, to further improve the performance of your oiling system.
Spanner wrench easy installation tool which accepts a 1 1/8" socket, allowing use of a torque wrench for precise installation is available for $14.95. Installation notes: Oil both o-rings prior to installation. Screw the oil filter adapter onto the engine by hand. You can feel when the rubber O-rings begin to seat and once the adapter snugs up to the block, torque the filter housing using installation tool - do not exceed 25 Nm (18 Ft/Lbs) torque when tightening. Do not over-tighten filter adapter OR filter. If an o-ring is damaged, replacements are available. If the installation tool is not available, a filter strap wrench can be used, but depending on the wrench, damage to the anodizing, however cosmetic only, may occur. Make sure the adapter has seated completely against the block - a feeler gauge can be used to verify if a torque wrench and installation tool is not used.

Higher coolant temperatures can increase thermal efficiency and reduce emissions, sacrificing performance. The principle behind lowering coolant temperatures (regardless of application) is that a cooler engine will have higher volumetric efficiency. Lower temperatures will also allow for more timing without detonation. Since the ECU is capable of changing timing based off of fuel quality and temperature, timing can be added further until pre-ignition is detected by the knock sensors. Furthermore, by reducing the coolant temperature, you also effectively reduce oil temperatures as well as the oil coolers used by Porsche are oil to water intercoolers, designed to keep the oil and coolant at the same temperature.
